Few Words About the Church
In recent years, they constructed a little church and dedicated it to the Virgin Mary of Amiantos, which is located between the towns of Amiantos and Pelendri, adjacent to the Kouris river bridge. The Church celebrates the Sunday of Thomas, and on this day,
the faithful of Pelendri take the icon of the Virgin Mary in procession to a tiny chapel and then back to their hamlet at the end of the day. Attempts to transfer the image using methods other than feet have failed in the past. It can only be transported on foot, like the lechona did hundreds of years ago.
